Im Juli 2004 fand in Erlangen ein internationales Symposium zur zyprischen Archäologie statt – organisiert von der Leventis-Stiftung (Vassos Karageorghis), dem Institut für Interdisziplinäre Zypern-Studien der Universität Münster (Sabine Rogge) und dem Institut für Klassische Archäologie der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Hartmut Matthäus). Zwei Tage lang tauschten sich Wissenschaftler und Wissenschaftlerinnen aus verschiedenen europäischen Ländern und den USA über das Thema "Zyprische Religion und Gesellschaft – von der späten Bronzezeit bis zur Archaischen Periode" aus.
